Time to start phasing this blog out. It turns out that I am just not that great at regularly updating anything. I will, however, keep updating you on our expanding family and that kind of stuff at www.Lokshin.com. Soon, the Lokshin.com website will no longer be a wedding website! My goal is to have that switch completed by the second wedding anniversary.

Yes, it's officially official. In case you're one of the few folks who keeps track of me by reading this, i wanted to let you know: I am knocked up. No longer just fat - now pregnant and fat! Awesome, right? If all goes according to plan, there should be a baby sometime around Halloween. If Mike has his way, there will be a baby ON Halloween.

Here's how you know indie rock has jumped the shark: you're watching America's Funniest Home Videos at the gym, and there's a segment on wacky haircut hijinks, featuring Pavement's Cut Your Hair. I was laughing more at the choice of music than at the videos, believe me. Rather, don't judge me for watching America's Funniest Home Videos.

An exchange yesterday between me and an old man walking down my street.

Him: Hello!
Me: Hello. Approaching my front door, thinking to myself, "how nice it is to have friendly neighbors!"
Him: I love you!
Me: ... Uh, should I keep walking so he doesn't know where I live, or duck into my building and quickly pull the door shut behind me?

I opted for the latter. Life in the city is fun!

Am I a total geek for being overly excited about the Chicago Public Library's new website? I can reserve books online! Books and CDs and movies! How freaking awesome is that? I just picked up my first book reserved online, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Just entered another three books and two CDs to my hold list. They call me when things are in, or e-mail me. I know other cities have had this for a long time. I'm not blaming you for being behind the curve, Chicago Public Library. I'm just so happy you've finally caught up!

And then I go and ignore you again for a couple weeks! Bad, neglectful blog momma. It's just that life is currently uneventful, so I don't want to pad with stupid stuff. Anyway, coming soon, check Lokshin.com/blog.html for updates in the general Lokshin world, I think it's finally time to get rid of the wedding website.

Why yes, poor blog, I have pretty much abandoned you. Okay, it's been busy at work lately, life is all crazy, I have all sorts of excuses. But I will make an attempt to keep up with you. Starting...now.

Super perfundo on the early eve of your day.

Something John heard in a dream. If I remember correctly, John Candy said it to him? It was shortly after John Candy died, or maybe right before. And right around the time of the development of Waking Life. For some reason, today, I thought of that quote, and I googled it. Holy shit. People are discussing what it could possibly mean. Selling t-shirts with the phrase on it. It's even got an Urban Dictionary entry.

I wonder where John would be today if he were still around? Would he have settled down, moved to the 'burbs and had babies? I can't picture that. I wish he was around to see the little bit of cult status he still has, years after Waking Life's release.

My new musical obsession. I believe I've listened to this song 5 times today now. And they're so cute!

Short hair

Not bad, I think it turned out nicer than it would have if I'd gone the length I wanted. Now, just need to get used to it again.

Katie's birthday. I don't really know what to do with myself. I don't feel like having contact with any human beings, which is kind of a tough one to manage when there's still a CTA ride home to get through. I started out the day feeling okay, and now I'm sitting here at my desk trying to make it through the next 50 minutes without crying. We'll see how that goes.
